17 schools, 34 teams take part in Tunku Abdullah Debate Challenge (TADC)

Direct English added another feather in its cap when it partnered St John’s International School (SJIS) to organise the highly successful Tunku Abdullah Debate Challenge (TADC) on 6th & 7th July 2019.

17 schools (with a total of 34 teams) from across the Klang Valley and as far away as Sarawak took part vigorously in the two-day debate and in the glittering Grand Finals held at SJIS Campus 2 on the 7th July, SMK Convent Bukit Nanas and ELC International School (Sungai Buloh) emerged victorious in the Under-18 and Under-15 team categories respectively.

Each of the winning schools walked away with the Tunku Abdullah Debate Challenge Trophy and RM15,000.00 of Direct English Course Sponsorship.

Adjudicating at TADC Grand Finals were Y.A.M Tunku Zain Al’ Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, (Founding President of IDEAS – Institute of Democracy and Economic Affairs); Y.M. Tunku Halim bin Tunku Abdullah (award-winning fiction and non-fiction author); Y.Bhg. Dato’ Steve Day (Founder & Chief Executive, Vision Four Media Group); YM Datin Dr Hjh Raja Mazuin bte Raja Abdul Aziz (VP, MELTA) and Mr. Tony Collingridge (MD, Delta Gate Solutions).

Group Executive Chairman of Melewar Group, Y. M. Tunku Dato’ Seri (Dr) Iskandar Tunku Abdullah who presided as TADC Chairman expressed his delight that the second edition of TADC i.e TADC 2019 saw more than 50% increase in school participation as compared to the inaugural edition in 2018.
